This project is to renovate a 13 year-old parking booth structure. The structure was in bad shape due to poor maintenance by the staff. Being built by bed frames, metal corrugated sheets, and marine-grade plywood, it was a challenge for us to find the same types of material to replace the rusted ones at the time we got the project. Our idea is to give the structure a completely new look by lightening up the upper loft space to make it feel like a latern. This approach helps us to iliminate the rusted metal panels above while allows to introduce a more weather friendly material such as polycarbonate.Since the parking booth serves for Honolulu Museum of Art, The client only could arrange one full week for us to work on the construction phase. To make this happen, we adjusted some parts from the original ideas to some details that helps us to prep before the construction starts. After putting 7 days and nights with a lot of helps from friends and our mentor, Bundit, this project was done successfully with a high satisfication from the clients.
